Dad bod

This is Burning Anchor. The newsletter that teaches you what your father should have taught you.

In today’s email:

  • Dad bod

  • The true test of a mans character is …

  • Testosterone + dopamine = 🔥

Lets go…

Thought: What is a dad bod?

I had a conversation in the Burning Anchor community today with my man Joey.

I told Joey I’ll probably be a father next year (Joey is a father)

Then we started talking about “Dad bods”

What is a Dad Bod really?

Is it a real thing?

Or is it just weak mindset with a lack of prioritization around health?

I’m not a father so I can’t comment on this yet.

But Joey is. And he wakes up every day at 4am and goes to Crossfit. I don’t think he accepted the ‘dad bod’ story.

Now I’m asking you…

What do you think?

“Whether you think you can or you can’t…you’re right”

I’m just playing but the message here is simple:

You get what you tolerate.

To be a good father you must be a strong father.

This applies to all areas of your life as a man.

Are you fooling yourself?

Post of the week: “The true test of a mans character”

Hate him or love him, Andrew Tate hit the nail on the head with this post:

(watch the video clip)

It reminds me of the quote by legendary college basketball coach, John Wooden:

“The true test of a man's character is what he does when no one is watching”

Take that wisdom into your weekend.

T-boosting tip: do a dopamine detox

Is there a link between dopamine and testosterone?

No not really. They don’t influence one another.

But they do have one important thing in common:

They both MURDER your desire to procrastinate in life.

You know this already: but strong Testosterone actually makes you want to do hard things

Good hard things.

Like lifting weights. Asking someone cute for her number. Building a business. Etc.

And guess what?

So does dopamine (if its “working” properly)

If both Testosterone AND dopamine motivate you to do hard things…

…what happens if you optimize both of them?

Let me tell you:

You would become a GODDAMN WEAPON.

Procrastination would not be in your DNA.

It would feel like you took that limitless pill and did all the things you know you need to do.

But here’s the problem:

Your dopamine is COOKED

You live in a world that constantly throttles your dopamine system.

Things like smartphones. Social media. Junk food. YouTube. Netflix. ‘adult films’. etc etc….these things all throttle your dopamine.

The result?

You feel lazy. Unmotivated. Unexcited about life.

Which means you procrastinate on the hard-but-important-things-you-know you-need-to-do-but-will-get-to-tomorrow-after-one-more-night-of-netflix (BS)

My friend…

What you need is a way to reset your dopamine receptors.

Some call this a “dopamine detox”

I’ve created something more powerful, however.

I’m publishing a 7-day dopamine detox challenge in the Burning Anchor community this weekend.

As you go through each day of this challenge you’ll be held accountable by the community which will motivate you do the work and go the distance.

(much more powerful than doing a dopamine detox alone in your moms basement after watching a random YouTube video)

The 50 free spots for this community are filled (I warned you last week) but if you’re still interested REPLY to this email and I’ll put you on the waitlist (I’m actively booting members who haven’t been engaging in the community so there will be spots available soon)

That’s it for today.
